Parking

Free street parking is available throughout the Capitol Hill Neighborhood, including on the street directly outside the building. However there are a few things to be aware of:

  • Much of the city has specific zones that allow unlimited parking for residents. If you would like a visitor pass for your stay to enable you to park in all of Zone 6 - please message us the make, model, color and license plate of your vehicle so that we can print one out for you.

  • Massachusetts Ave has street cleaning the far side of the street on Wednesday mornings and the far side of the street on Thursday mornings.

  • If you are parked on the far side of the street on Wednesday between 9:30am-11:30am you may be ticketed. Likewise, if you are parked on the near side of the street on Thursday between 9:30am-11:30am you may be ticketed.

  • DC parking is free on Sundays. This means all meters are inactive and you do not need to pay for any street parking throughout the city.

Heating & Cooling

There are 3 mini splits on the property for heating and cooling. One is in the main living area and one in each bedroom. Each unit has it's own remote and can be independently controlled for maximum comfort for everyone.

  • Turn the unit on or off by pushing the orange power button at the top center of the remote

  • Switch mode by pushing the MODE button to the left side of the remote:

    • ❄️ the snowflake symbol will set the unit to cool the space

    • 🅰️ the A symbol will set the unit to automatically switch between heat and cool to maintain temperature

    • 💧 the water droplet symbol will set the unit to dehumidify or dry the air

    • 🌞 the sun symbol will set the unit to heat the space

    • ❃ the fan symbol will set the unit to blow air

  • Please make sure that units are not set to conflicting modes. That is, if one unit is set to heat, please do not set another unit to cool. This can cause issues to the system and may cause a malfunction. Thank you!

Kitchen Appliances

Coffee + Keurig

If you like coffee, we've got options. We've got a Keurig with K-cups, a french press, a pour-over, locally roasted beans, a scale and a grinder.

To use the Keurig, first power on the device. Next pour your desired amount of water into the Keurig reservoir at the back of the Keurig. Open the front and place a k-cup face up into the slot. Close the Keurig and press the large K button on top. Then kick back to enjoy your coffee.

Here are some instructions on using the french press and making a pour over as well!

Toaster Oven + Air Fryer

The Toaster Oven / Air Fryer combo allows you to cook or heat most anything that isn't liquidy or soupy.

Though it might look intimidating, it's fairly simple. Use the middle know to set the mode (air fryer, roast, toast, bake, etc.). Next, use the left knob to set your desired temperature. Lastly, use the timer knob on the right to set your time.

As soon as the timer is set, the oven will begin cooking. More details here.

Induction Cooktop

The induction stove top will be located in the lower left cabinet.

To use, place on the countertop and plug into the outlet. Place a pot on top of the burner - it will not heat without a pot on top.

Once you have a pot on the burner, power on the unit. Then, press the menu button to default to the basic heating function. From here, you can raise or lower the cooking "power". 5.0 is mid-heat and 10 is the hottest (only use this to boil quickly).

Once you're done, turn off and unplug the unit but DO NOT TOUCH immediately after cooking. It will still be hot and the fan will continue to run until it has cooled. More details here.

TV & Entertainment

The primary bedroom and the main living area each have a Google TV set up and connected.

Turn on the TV using the remote and navigate the menu to whichever apps you want to use during your stay.

Laundry Appliances

The unit is equipped with a stacked washer and dryer along with detergent pods.

After you power on either unit, work from left to right to select your desired setting. Press the play button once you have selected your preferred settings to begin the cycle.

Workspace

The workspace is equipped with a professional microphone, webcam and extra monitor.

All three plug into a single adapter that is compatible with usb-c ports. Simply plug this into a usb-c port on your laptop and everything should be connected.

To turn the extra monitor on, press the button located beneath the bottom-right corner of the monitor. The microphone and webcam should both automatically be connected and available from your device.

Bathroom Bidet

We get it, not everyone is used to using a bidet - but it is truly and upgrade from just using toilet paper. Here's some quick tips for you for achieving the cleanest of bums.

First of all, only turn on the bidet while sitting on the toilet. If no one is on the toilet, the water can spray across the room.

While seated on the toilet, simply turn the brown knob clockwise to turn on the water. Turn up or down the water to your preferred water pressure. You may also adjust the angle using the white slider.

Bedrooms

White Noise Machine + Bluetooth Speakers

Both bedrooms have a small but mighty white noise machine that can also double as a bluetooth speaker.

The toggle on the back can switch between the two main settings of white noise and bluetooth.

The button in the center of the front turns on or off. The buttons to each side change the noise type. The smaller buttons adjust the volume.

Collapsible Desk

The desk in the secondary bedroom can fold down to collpase against the wall or be raised up to use as a writing desk or just another place to set your stuff.

To lower, pull up on the lever beneath the lower left hand corner and gently lower the desk down to the wall.

To raise up, just pull the desk back out until you hear it click.

Safety & Rules

There is a second exit through the back door located in the primary bedroom. This exits to the back yard and alley in case of emergency. Please use the front entrance for all foot traffic as the back gate is typically locked from the inside.

No parties please. Sure, a couple people hanging out with the registered guests are fine. But this is our home and we care about our neighbors. Please keep any noise reasonable and respectful at all times.

If you have any issues or questions, feel free to reach out to us directly at +1 (771) 220-7588. We are always more than happy to help or provide any recommendations.
